František Suchý (padre)

František Suchý nació en junio de 1899 y se convirtió en una figura clave en la resistencia tanto contra el régimen nazi como contra el comunista en Checoslovaquia. En 1932, asumió la dirección del crematorio de Strašnice, ubicado en la zona oriental de Praga. Durante la ocupación nazi en la Segunda Guerra Mundial, František Suchý fue responsable de la incineración de los cuerpos de las víctimas del régimen, la mayoría de ellas prisioneros ejecutados en campos de concentración como el de Hradištko.

Desafiando las órdenes nazis de entregar los listados oficiales de las víctimas a las autoridades alemanas, arriesgó su vida y la de su familia para esconder las cenizas de las víctimas del nazismo.

La resistencia de la familia Suchý no fue solo una historia de padre e hijo. La madre, Olga Suchá, vivía con ellos en el crematorio y desempeñó un papel clave. Fue testigo de las atrocidades y también fue perseguida. Durante el régimen comunista, fue encarcelada. Su experiencia forma parte del coraje que definió a toda la familia.

František Suchý (hijo)

František Suchý, hijo de František padre y Olga, nació el 17 de abril de 1927 en Praga. Desde joven, fue testigo de los horrores de la guerra y la opresión. A los 16 años, vivió de cerca la brutalidad nazi cuando, en el mismo crematorio donde residía, presenció la cremación de los cuerpos de los resistentes checos y los deportados ejecutados en los campos de concentración de Hradischko. Además, ayudó activamente a su padre en la elaboración de las listas de los deportados incinerados.

Tras la guerra, Checoslovaquia pasó a estar bajo un régimen comunista que, como los nazis, perseguía a los disidentes. En 1948, František Suchý (hijo) se involucró activamente en actividades anticomunistas, luchando contra la represión política del nuevo régimen. Su oposición al régimen lo llevó a ser arrestado en 1952. Después de sufrir duros interrogatorios, reveló información sobre el escondite de armas y documentos en su casa, lo que provocó la detención de toda su familia. Durante el registro en su hogar, las autoridades encontraron panfletos antiestatales y armas, lo que llevó a su condena a 25 años de prisión. Además, sus padres fueron encarcelados durante cuatro años.

reconocimiento​

František Suchý (padre) falleció en 1984, pero el impacto de su valentía sigue presente en la memoria colectiva de Chequia. Su hijo, František Suchý (hijo), vivió hasta los 91 años, falleciendo el 7 de junio de 2018. A lo largo de su vida, ambos Suchý trabajaron incansablemente para preservar los restos de más de 2.000 víctimas de los regímenes nazi y comunista, desafiando el peligro y arriesgando sus vidas para garantizar que estas víctimas no fueran olvidadas.

Hoy en día, se les honra con el nombramiento de un parque entre las calles Nad Olšinami, Nad Primaskou y Za Strašnickou vozovnou en Praga, como símbolo de su valentía y dedicación a la preservación de la memoria de aquellos que sufrieron y murieron bajo las manos de los totalitarismos del siglo XX.

El legado de los Suchý es un testimonio del coraje, la resistencia y la importancia de preservar la historia, no solo para recordar las atrocidades cometidas, sino también para proteger a las futuras generaciones del olvido.

En 2011, fue condecorado con la Orden de Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk por sus destacadas contribuciones a la democracia, la humanidad y los derechos humanos. En 2017, recibió el Premio Memoria de las Naciones en reconocimiento a su valentía y dedicación a preservar la verdad histórica.
